Celina Main Street’s 2026 accreditation recognizes downtown preservation work

Celina Main Street earned Accredited status from Main Street America for 2026, a designation the city announced in May that recognizes the local program’s downtown revitalization work.

The assessment covered preservation-based economic development, organizational capacity, community participation, funding, programming and demonstrated results. Accredited status is the higher of the organization’s two designation tiers.

According to the city, evaluation involved the Downtown Manager, Celina Downtown Commission and Texas Main Street Program. The designation applies to the Main Street program; it is not an individual rating of every downtown business.

For residents watching new investment around the square, the recognition provides context for the city’s parallel emphasis on historic character. Downtown growth involves both attracting new uses and maintaining the features that distinguish the district.

The city’s announcement describes the evaluation framework and the broader national network. Readers interested in the program can start there to understand what the accreditation measures.
